When a team has a puncture or has to change parts in a special, what becomes of the punctured tyres or the broken parts?
(Ron Meijnen, Holland)

The regulations stipulate that the cars have to return to the bivouac with at least two spare tyres. The Nissan N-05 Pickup has three of them. The teams therefore could allow themselves to leave a spare tyre behind in the middle of the desert when there is a puncture. But this is not the case. After having changed the tyre, the team loses a few more seconds putting the punctured tyre away under the rear bonnet. For the Nissan Rally Raid Team it is a question of respect. Africa allows all the members of the team to live their passion. The least that they can do is to leave it intact for its inhabitants after the rally passes through. Likewise, when an assistance lorry works on a car on the track, the mechanics are obligated to pick up everything once the work is finished.
